Community Center
In 2023 Open Road Global began to get to know local leaders and community members in a high poverty area outside Blantyre, Malawi. We saw for ourselves face to face the daily obstacles rooted in extreme poverty and a lack of access to fundamental necessities that people were facing. A vision was shared and along with local leaders we purchased land in the heart of the community, built a community center run by local Malawian staff, and now have programs and services that serve over 1200 participants monthly. Open Road Global is proud to be coming alongside local champions and seeing the fruit that comes from all people working together to alleviate poverty and suffering for its most vulnerable community members.
Local Schools
Open Road Global is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by supporting locally driven education projects. We are proud to be supporting and uplifting three different schools in areas of Malawi with extreme poverty. All three of these schools are the only ones of their kind offering access to education for the most marginalized and impoverished. From children in the midst of areas of famine and food insecurity to special needs children who previously had no access to formal education. We believe in the local vision of the community leaders who are running and operating these schools and know they are ending poverty for its most vulnerable members.

In a place where free education is a luxury, many families in Blantyre, Malawi, can't afford their children's education essentials. Our Village School Sponsorship Program ensures that marginalized children can access quality education by covering tuition, uniforms, transportation, and daily lunch. Additionally, we offer our Village Tutoring Program, which provides essential academic support, bridging the education gap and offering these children a brighter future.
Local Vocational Programs
We believe strongly in a model of intervention that empowers people to utilize their own gifts and talents to help themselves out of poverty. While at times emergency aid is helpful and necessary, we know that long term solutions require offering livelihood opportunities that can equip them for life. Along with a local leader we operate a vocational hub in the center of Blantyre, Malawi. We offer four different trades and are fully certified by the local government certifying agency. Every person who graduates leaves with a tool that they can use in their lives to earn a living wage for their family. Our graduates are finding work at various factories and businesses and are forever empowered in a way that a simple hand out of aid could never give them.
