About Malawi

Nestled in the heart of Africa, Blantyre, Malawi is a place where vibrant culture meets profound challenges. Our Four Pillars of Support

Open Road Global is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by focusing on four key areas, each designed to uplift the people of Blantyre and provide them with the tools to lead secure and dignified lives.

  • In a place where free education is a luxury, many families in Blantyre, Malawi, can't afford their children's education essentials. Our Village School Sponsorship Program ensures that marginalized children can access quality education by covering tuition, uniforms, transportation, and daily lunch. Additionally, we offer our Village Tutoring Program, which provides essential academic support, bridging the education gap and offering these children a brighter future.

  • Our Small Business Start-Up Co-Op program provides a lifeline for girls aged 14 to 24 who haven't received a formal education. We equip them with artisan skills and business training, helping them avoid alternatives like trafficking, early marriage, or early pregnancy. Graduates can start small businesses with our support and oversight, fostering economic independence and self-reliance.

  • Maternal death is a pressing issue in Malawi, resulting in countless orphans. Open Road Global is addressing this by offering prenatal and postnatal care, led by a trained local public health nurse, to the most underserved communities. Health education is also an integral part of our work, promoting well-being for both mothers and children.

  • Blantyre, Malawi, is no stranger to food insecurity. Our Community Center, created in partnership with local Malawian officials, provides a community activity hub. From tutoring programs for children to a small medical clinic and livelihood opportunities, this community-driven vision is making a significant impact.

We've also initiated community-led chicken coop projects to provide nutritious food and strengthen community bonds. Plus, our Corn Grain Grinding Program aims to alleviate the burden on families who rely on corn as their primary food source by building a community grinder.

Empowering Malawi

At Open Road Global, we start at the grassroots level by identifying local visionaries who lack access to funding and infrastructure support. We believe in building trusting relationships, empowering local champions, and honoring their voices. Together with our global network of supporters, we work to bring communities out of the poverty trap, one step at a time.

Our mission is clear: to empower communities to live financially secure and dignified lives. Join us in this mission by sponsoring a child's education for just $30 a month, supporting our small business co-op, or contributing to our vital health initiatives. Together, we can make a difference in Blantyre, Malawi, and uplift the lives of its residents.

Join us in creating a brighter future for Blantyre, Malawi. Together, we can make a world of difference.
